Description: Zippered Vest Recalled by Kid's Patrol NEWS from CPSC U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Office of Information and Public Affairs Washington, DC 20207 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 13, 1997 Release # 98-027 Company Phone Number: (800) 562-5373 CPSC Consumer Hotline: (800) 638-2772 CPSC Media Contact: Nychelle Fleming, (301) 504-7063 CPSC, Kid's Patrol Announce Recall of Zippered Vest WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Kid's Patrol of New York, N.Y., is recalling about 12,000 Athletic Team zippered vests sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores. The zipper "pulls" can slide off the top of the vest and become a choking hazard to young children. CPSC and Kid's Patrol are not aware of any injuries involving these vests. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injury. The Athletic Team vests are blue with red and white trim, and were sold as part of a three-piece set that included a sweatshirt and sweatpants. There is a logo on the chest of the vest that shows a football and the words, "ATHLETIC TEAM." The vests are a cotton/polyester blend, made in Thailand, and produced in 12-month, 18-month and 24-month sizes. Wal-Mart stores nationwide sold the vests from June 1997 through October 1997. The three-piece set sold for about $11. Consumers should stop using the vest immediately and return the vest or three-piece set to any Wal-Mart store for a refund or store credit.
