Announce Recall to Repair Snowman Nightlight Diffuser The following product safety recall was conducted voluntarily by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. Name of Product: Snowman Nightlight Diffuser Units: 333,000 Manufacturer/Importer: Cosmos Gifts Corporation, of Dallas, Texas Hazard: The scented oil can drip causing the nightlight base to crack or break, exposing electrical wire or metal parts inside the nightlight, thus causing a potential shock hazard. There is also a risk of cuts if the nightlight breaks. Incidents/Injuries: Avon has received 33 reports of the nightlight base breaking, including reports of electrical shorts. One complaint involved a consumer who was scratched when the nightlight broke. Description: The diffuser nightlight has a white plastic base. A porcelain snowman attaches to the plastic nightlight to cover the nightlight bulb. The nightlight comes with winter holly scented oil that is placed in the snowman's top hat. Sold by: Independent Avon sales representatives and the Avon Web site from August 2003 through December 2003 for $10 to $15.
