Description: Calligaris USA Recalls Bar Stools Due to Fall Hazard Recall Alert U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Office of Information and Public Affairs Washington, DC 20207 August 24, 2007 Alert #07-571 Calligaris USA Recalls Bar Stools Due to Fall Hazard The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. Name of Product: ICE Bar Stools Units: About 400 Importer: Calligaris USA Inc., of High Point, N.C. Hazard: The seat on the bar stools can detach, causing the consumer to fall and suffer injuries. Incidents/Injuries: Calligaris has received five reports of the seats detaching. No injuries have been reported. Description: This recall involves Calligaris bar stools with a contemporary design. The stools have a black or chrome metal base, a low-back, and plastic seats that come in orange, black, white, green, or clear. The words “ICE” and “Calligaris” are engraved on the underside of the seat. Sold through: Furniture stores nationwide from November 2005 through September 2006 for between $250 and $600. Manufactured in: Italy Remedy: Consumers should stop using these bar stools immediately and return them to the store where purchased for a merchandise exchange or a full refund of the purchase price.
