Luv N’ Care Orthodontic Pacifiers

Description: December 27, 1990 Release # 91-029 Orthodontic Pacifier Recalled WASHINGTON, DC -- Luv N' Care, Inc., Monroe, LA is voluntarily recalling approximately 16,000 Luv N' Care Orthodontic Pacifiers, Item #G-15. During use the nipples may separate creating a fatal choking hazard to young children. This recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The Luv N' Care Orthodontic Pacifier has been found to fail the protrusion test and the nipple integrity test set forth by the CPSC's pacifier requirements. The pacifier is made of plastic with the required two holes and the word "TIDY" embossed on the outside of the shield. The pacifiers come in solid pastel colors of blue, pink, yellow, and white. The pacifiers were sold nationwide beginning in October 1989. Retailers were notified by the firm in October 1990 to stop sale of these pacifiers. Consumers are urged to take these pacifiers away from young children immediately and return them to the store where purchased for a refund of the purchase price. CPSC is aware of three consumer complaints with no injuries regarding Luv N' Care pacifiers.
