Recalls Filters Used in Fuel Funnels Due to Fire Hazard WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. Name of product: Outerwears Funnel Pre-Filters Units: About 500 Manufacturer: Outerwears Inc., of Schoolcraft, Mich. Hazard: The Funnel Pre-Filters can create a flash when they are removed from the fuel tank posing a fire hazard. Incidents/Injuries: Outerwears received three reports of flashing when the funnel is removed from the fuel tank following a fueling event. No injuries have been reported. Description: These filters are used to fuel-up off-road and racing vehicles. The recall involves Outerwears Funnel Pre-Filters, or fuel funnel pre-filters, with the model numbers 20-2465-03, 20-2466-03, 20-2467-03, and 20-2474-03. The red fabric mesh filters were available in two sizes, small and large, and in two different shapes to accommodate various sizes of fueling funnels. The name of the manufacturer, Outerwears, is the only marking on the product. Sold at: Various off-road and racing retailers nationwide from June 2008 through February 2009 for about $25.
