The pacifier consists of a pink, yellow, or blue guard or shield and ring with a rubber nipple. The pacifier was sold in a plastic bubble attached to a perforated display panel that reads, "Deary Baby Rattle Baby Soother Spain Style." The packaging also shows a baby with blonde hair using a pacifier. Eugene Trading, Inc., Los Angeles, CA, imported and distributed the pacifiers in Arizona, California, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, New York, and Texas. PROBLEM: The pacifier fails to meet CPSC's pacifier regulations. During testing the nipple separated from the base of the pacifier, and the pacifier guard or shield can penetrate too far into the mouth and does not have ventilation holes. Any one or combination of these deficiencies presents a serious choking hazard to infants and young children. WHAT TO DO: Consumers should return the pacifier to: Eugene Trading Inc., 3841 Broadway Place, Los Angeles, CA 90037 for a refund of the purchase price; or destroy and throw out the pacifier.WASHINGTON, DC -- CPSC announces the recall of the "Deary Baby Rattle Baby Soother Spain Style" pacifier that fails to comply with CPSC's pacifier regulations. Between August 1992, and November 1993, Eugene Trading Inc., of Los Angeles, sold approximately 194,000 of the pacifiers in Arizona, California, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, New York, and Texas. The Commission and Eugene Trading Inc. urge consumers to return the pacifier to: Eugene Trading Inc., 3841 Broadway Place, Los Angeles, CA 90037 for a refund of the purchase price; or destroy and throw out the pacifier.
