Description: Playworld Systems Announce Recall of Playground Slides Recall Alert U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Office of Information and Public Affairs Washington, DC 20207 October 26, 2000 Alert #01-501 CPSC, Playworld Systems Announce Recall of Playground Slides PRODUCT: Playground Slides - Playworld Systems, of Lewisburg, Pa., is recalling 55 public playground stainless steel slides. The slides were sold as single and double stainless steel slides measuring 36 to 72 inches high. Playworld Systems manufactured and sold the slides from January 2000 through September 2000 for between $1,500 and $4,000. Playworld Systems' plastic slides are not included in this recall alert. PROBLEM: The welding of the slide bed to the slide sidewall can crack and separate and children's fingers can get caught in the space, posing a risk of amputation. INCIDENTS/INJURIES:There has been one report of a severed fingertip of a 6-year-old child. WHAT TO DO:Contact Playworld Systems at (800) 233-8404 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday to receive a new slide.
