Description: CONTACT: April 30, 1990 (301) 504-7908 Release # 90-085 "Comfort Cushion" Infant Cushion Recalled Because Of Suffocation Risk WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Tailored Baby, Inc., San Fernando, CA, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), is voluntarily recalling its "Comfort Cushion" infant cushions because of a suffocation risk identified in these types of products. Although the Tailored Baby Comfort Cushion is not known to be involved in any safety-related incident, the CPSC has received 19 reports that an infant was found dead lying face-down on infant bean bag cushions made by other firms. The Comfort Cushion product is a fabric covered, polystyrene pellet-filled cushion intended for use with infants. The manufacturer's name is attached to the product along with information concerning fiber content. Approximately 78,000 Comfort Cushions were sold nationwide from 1988 through April, 1990. The Commission staff urges consumers to stop using these cushions immediately.
