Description: August 3, 1995 Release # 95-152 WASHINGTON, D.C. - CPSC, R.C. Products Inc. of Medinah, Ill., is recalling approximately 25,000 4- and 8-fluid-ounce cans of TQ8+ Professional Tire Formula. The product, which contains methyl salicylate, was not packaged with child resistant closures.The product is toxic and can cause death or serious injury if it is accidentally ingested by a child. Under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act products containing more than 5% methyl salicylate are required to be packaged in containers with child resistant packaging R.C. Products and CPSC are not aware of any injuries associated with this product.The TQ8+ is used by hobbyists on the tires of model racing cars to help provide traction. Approximately 25,000 cans were sold nationwide in hobby supply stores from November, 1990 to June, 1995. The product sells for approximately $6.75.Consumers should stop using the TQ8+ Professional Tire Formula, keep the cans out of reach of young children, and mail the unused portion of the formula to R.C.
